There are no words that will make the losses less devastating. Nothing I can say. I am safe in Orange County, where we were spared. I have heard from a couple of clients who lost everything including their documents. I have scanned most of my clients’ documents, so hopefully I have a copy if you need it. You will want new original documents; I will provide you with new documents at no charge (just pay my notary).
Call me if you have lost your documents, it is one thing I can do to help.
Preparing for the Worst
We all know we should have our go bags, and be prepared, and most of us are not prepared for the worst. I am not sure we can be truly prepared for the worst. No one should second guess themselves and how they reacted or prepared for a disaster, we all do the best we can. At times it is not enough.
I spend my days helping people with the legal documents they need to take care of their families when they die, and themselves if they have dementia. I know what I do helps, but it is a small part of everything that needs to be done to prepare for the worst. Having lived through some death and dementia I know you are never truly prepared.
We know we can never be truly prepared for the worst, but I do want to encourage you to do what you can do to be prepared. If you want to make sure you have all the legal documents you need give me a call.
Grief
So much loss, grief. Grief is with you always when you suffer a loss. It impacts when you least expect it. It can be overwhelming, the pain intense. It’s impact lessens over time.
- We all deal with loss differently. Some tips I have from my experience with grief:
- Go easy on yourself, don’t be ashamed of your feelings
- There are things that need to be done, just do a little at a time.
- It is hard but life must go on, so as soon as you can go back to work, school, life.
- Talk to someone
- Remember, you are not alone
I am sad with you, as you grieve whatever losses you have endured. Sending you hugs.
