I just finished a multi-generational estate plan for grandparents, their adult child, and two young grandchildren. It started with the grandparents—hardworking, thoughtful people who’ve done well in life.
They recently moved into a continuing care community where they can age in place. He has Parkinson’s, and she has arthritis. While they’re still independent, they know a day will come when more care will be needed—and now they’ll never have to leave their home to get it.
They also wanted to make sure their legacy would be safe for the next two generations. I set up inheritance protection trusts to safeguard the assets they’ll pass on.
Their adult child is financially stable, so the grandparents wanted to ensure the grandchildren would also be protected—especially since their mother is a single parent. Her ex left when their first child was a newborn and she was pregnant with their second. The children are only 10 months apart—and the ex can’t be trusted.
We created a plan that ensures the money will be protected even if the unthinkable happens. If their mother were to pass while the children are still minors, we’ve made sure custody arrangements won’t jeopardize their inheritance. The trusts are secure, protected, and designed to support the children no matter what happens.
Now the grandparents can rest easy knowing that:
They’ll be cared for in their home
Their child is provided for
Their grandchildren’s futures are protected
That’s real peace of mind.
