AI Makes Up Stuff

A friend of mine was putting together a petition for interpreting a Trust that was very confusing. They thought they could save time by using Artificial Intelligence (AI). My friend is younger than me, so embraces new technology with an ease I envy.

AI put together a really compelling argument for the interpretation my friend wanted. My friend was alarmed by the results. My friend is a top litigator and has read every case related to Wills, Trusts, and Estate Planning. My friend knew there was little support for their argument. AI had cited cases in support of the argument. My friend started looking the cases up. THEY WERE ALL MADE UP!!

CAUTIONARY TALE: Be careful with everything you read online.

Artificial intelligence is making things up!! You can even find a serious article claiming the moon is made out of cheese! If you want answers on the law, talk to a lawyer who knows how to really research the law. If you need medical advice, talk to a doctor. I know it is easy to mistrust doctors and lawyers because you think we only give you advice that puts money in our pockets. Yes, we typically charge for advice, but I give free advice daily, and the best medical advice I got was a gift from a doctor who had me come in during lunch (I had lost my job and had no insurance).

I am an expert in Wills, Trusts, Probates, Special Needs Planning, Planning for Medi-Cal, Veteran’s benefits qualification, Dementia, and all the things you need to do to avoid probate court in life and in death. …And yes, I charge fees commensurate with my expertise. Yet, if you can save money without hiring me, I will tell you.
