I am part of an Alzheimer’s support group, and even though my husband’s journey is over, they let me participate. I am grateful to be able to help so many people. A common issue that often comes up in our discussions is scam phone calls. Sadly, our loved ones may forget many things but still remember their name, address, social security number, mother’s maiden name, etc., and may inadvertently give this information to a scammer who uses it to steal their identity, hack into their accounts, and take advantage of them. It’s a real problem.
A member of my group has found a solution for their mother. They have iPhones and added her to their family plan with “child settings” enabled. Their son set it up so that only calls from contacts on the list can come in or go out, and they can also monitor everything on the phone. I wanted to pass on this solution because it might help someone else.
If your loved one needs a legal plan that addresses all the issues associated with dementia, please give me a call.
