Is Alzheimer’s Genetic? New Research Says It Could Be

I gladly sponsored the UCI Mind Conference put on by UCI Mind, Alzheimer’s Association, and Alzheimer’s OC. The speakers were top researchers and scholars. The focus this year was on the genetics of Alzheimer’s. There are some forms of Alzheimer’s that are genetic, and like other genetic diseases, some families find out upon diagnosis that both parents carried the genes for these rarer forms. At the end, one of the speakers talked about how their mother and two of their sisters were living with a rare form of Alzheimer’s. If you have any kind of dementia in your family, there is a chance it could be genetic.

This is why I encourage those who have a family history to do everything possible to prepare: legal planning specifically designed for a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s or dementia, purchasing a life insurance policy or annuity with a long-term care rider, and changing your diet to a healthier one to perhaps prevent the disease. If you want to make sure you are prepared, give me a call.
