Someone was reminiscing about their children growing up. They talked about the last Thanksgiving they were all together—just the four of them—before the oldest left for college. After that, some of their children stayed at college, another married and brought their spouse, and later, children. For some, like me, I did not know that I would miss one at Thanksgiving and then a year later two family members.
Enjoy this year because it could be your last with someone you love, and if you are sad, remember it could also be the last one you spend alone. We don’t know what our future holds. It will hold joy and sadness. I don’t remember the last Thanksgiving when we were all together, but I do remember those when I joined my husband’s family with our children, holding on to the memories as I knew that life was changing as they grew and left the nest. I also remember knowing it would be my mom’s last Thanksgiving and making sure it was special. May you all treat each Thanksgiving like it could be the last.
