She packs every morning, hoping to go to a happier place.
She wants to go home—but home is 30 to 50 years ago.
She lives in the past with her parents and siblings. She takes trips, re-lives her happiest moments, and sometimes the sad ones too.
Some days, she thinks she’s younger than me—and that I’m her only child.
She still loves to crochet, craft, and draw, even though her hands can no longer keep up with her memories. She still loves to shop and remains quite the diva.
She doesn’t have a phone anymore, but she still loves to share the latest gossip. We live in her world now, not this one.
She remembers me sometimes, but even when she doesn’t, she knows I’m someone important. She still knows love.
Tomorrow is her birthday. She doesn’t remember—but I do. We will celebrate.
She is still my mama. No matter where in time she is.
