Don’t let insurance loopholes cost you—check your policy

Some insurance companies are attempting to deny claims from recent fires by arguing that properties correctly transferred into a Trust are not covered because the Trust itself is not named on the policy. While attorneys are actively challenging these denials, and I expect the claims will ultimately be approved, this situation serves as an important reminder.

If you were fortunate enough to avoid losing your home, I strongly recommend calling your insurance agent to confirm that your Trust is specifically named on your policy. Taking this step now could prevent potential issues down the road.
